چکیده

A large number of microorganisms are capable of degrading cellulose, only a few of these microorganisms produce significant quantities of enzymes capable of completely hydrolyzing cellulose. Fungi are the main cellulase producing microorganisms. In this purposed study, four fungal species belonging to two genera i.e. Trichoderma and Aspergillus were isolated from different sources, screened and compared for their ability to degrade cellulose. The plate screening assay recommended by International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) were used in the investigation. Cellulolytic fungi were evaluated after 7 days for the production of cellulolytic enzymes by staining with 1% congo red. The diameter of clear zone on fungal plates, gave an approximate indication of cellulase activities.

Screening of Soil and Sheep Faecal Samples for Predacious Fungi: Isolation and Characterization of the Nematode-Trapping Fungus Arthrobotrys oligospora

Over one-year period, 150 pasture soil samples and 138 sheep faecal samples, collected from different parts of Iran were screened for the presence of nematophagous fungi. The samples were cultured at 25ºC on chloramphenicol-2% water agar (CHF-WA) plates in the presence of Haemonchus contortus third stage larvae (L3) and checked over a two-month period for characteristic conidia, conidiophores a...

Isolation and screening of lignocellulose hydrolytic saprophytic fungi from dairy manure soil

This study was aimed to screen the lignocellulolytic ability of selected fungi under laboratory conditions. In presence of lignin and hemicellulose will reduce the activity of cellulase. Wild type fungal strains which have cellulolytic activity along with lignolytic activity, hemicellulolytic activity, were isolated from different animal dung manure soils collected from Sri Venkateswara Go Samr...

Rice straw-decomposing fungi and their cellulolytic and xylanolytic enzymes.

Filamentous fungi colonizing rice straw were collected from 11 different sites in Korea and were identified based on characterization of their morphology and molecular properties. The fungi were divided into 25 species belonging to 16 genera, including 14 ascomycetes, one zygomycete, and one basidiomycete. Fungal cellulolytic and xylanolytic enzymes were assessed through a two-step process, whe...

Cost-effective screening and isolation of xylano-cellulolytic positive microbes from termite gut and termitarium

In this study, screening and isolation of xylano-cellulolytic enzymes producing positive microbes from termitarium and termite gut microbiome were done using cost-effective agricultural wastes. The enrichment of xylano-cellulolytic microbes was done in three steps using wheat bran and waste paper. The qualitative screening of xylanase and cellulase producing micro-organisms was done on nutrient...
